Since the first months moving to the Hudson Valley several years ago, I've been seized by - perhaps wonderfully entangled in - the mystical spirit of the region rendered by the artists of the Hudson River School of Art who depicted the clove in the mountains through which Kaaterskill Creek flows.

The photo inset on the album cover is a painting commonly attributed to Asher B. Durand, one of the many Hudson River School artists who painted aspects of the valley as a "paradise" they believed to have entered in their age - that is how stunning the valley was to them - and still is to me.

Living in the town from which many of these artist-mystics painted and lived, and seeing parts of the same scenery that they saw, "Creek & Clove" is a sonnet to the sacred landscape enwrapped in the sounds of vistas and streams; a reflection the awesome dusk and dawns of the skies, and an acknowledgment of artists who painted "paradise."

But also, and perhaps more importantly, to celebrate the First Nation tribes they befriended.
